CHARM Lab
The Community Health Action & Research for Marginalized Women’s Health (CHARM) Lab is focused on actionable research to support the health and wellbeing of medically underserved and socially marginalized women. We partner with community organizations, policymakers, and practitioners in settings around the globe to inform, develop, and evaluate evidence-based interventions addressing the health of women who face disparities related to sexual, reproductive, and mental health and access to care due to social, contextual, and policy factors (e.g., criminalization, migration, social exclusion). Our work focuses on a variety of health outcomes, including HIV, sexually transmitted infections (STI), mental health symptoms and care engagement, substance use, maternal health, and cervical cancer. We collaborate closely with community partners across various sectors, including immigrant-serving and resettlement organizations, community health centers, sex worker-led and serving organizations, and organizations supporting the health and social needs of people living with and affected by HIV, substance use, and mental health disparities.
